The last vinyl product feature that we will discuss today is the registered embossing. A Wood-Like Texture Product - Registered Embossed If that sounds too easy, come by one of our stores and we will show you. Tap the luxury vinyl on the long side that is away from you, and drop the board into place. Using the patented Tap n Fold waterproof interlocking installation feature is much easier. The long side installation is going to be a struggle, with lots of tugging and tapping with tools. You can choose to either start your installation on the long side or on the end which is the easy way.

Essentially, when you install most LVP floors, you have to be a bit of a contortionist. If you are doing your own installation then the Tap n Fold is a big deal. On our Nobility, Shaw uses a 1.4 mm pad, whereas most competing luxury vinyl floors include a 1 mm version.

The bottom layer of an LVP product construction is in the attached pad. The Attached Pad & Fold-N-Tap Installation The installation and style colors are a close second place to the floorte vinyl plank. If the price is really important, buy that. We offer the COREtec Mills River, a 12 mil SPC with a balancing layer.

If you want to upgrade a little or a lot, we can help with that as well.ĭo not buy a floor without the balancing layer. If you want the cheap stuff, we have that. It is much easier to sell the cheapest floor than to explain the differences between the products and allow our customers to make that decision. But we retailers want to make your purchase all about price. Everything from the cheapest jalopy to high-end style imports. Sometimes I visit our different locations and I look at the different cars that our customers drive. Who is to be blamed, the retailer? The manufacturer? The retailer? How about both? Take off 1 of the 2 structural layers of an LVP floor, and guess what you get? A beautiful style floor that separates when the sun hits it all day. Take off one of the 6 layers of a sheet of plywood and you hurt the stability a little. It has multiple layers of wood, each layer has wood grain running perpendicular to the last.

The truth is that a large part of the quality of LVP like our shaw floorte pro is determined by its stability, and stability requires balance. Manufacturers don't add a balancing layer so you can save 10-15 cents! Most of the features of an LVP are visual styles as you may notice notice.

Now to what I consider the second most important feature of a Luxury Vinyl Plank floor besides style is the balancing layer. To keep a floor looking great in your home, it needs to resist damage. SPC Rigid core is what makes a floor more dense and dent-resistant. On Nobility, Shaw uses a high-definition layer that has far more detail than most of their offerings. The image layer is what provides the visual. If your topcoat is Aluminum Oxide, what difference does it make how thick it is? Sure, a 20 will last longer than a 12, marginally, but the other aspects of construction are more vital to stability and longevity. Here some of my manufacturing friends will disagree with me, but I think that this specification is the least important. The most common thicknesses are 6 mil, 12 mil, and 20 mil, but occasionally we see wear layers up to 30 mils. A Shaw Floorte product shines with a thicker wear layer. Technically, the wear layer is the finish layer, with Aluminum Oxide, but we are naming them separately because of the difference in thicknesses that are available. The only downside to Aluminum Oxide is that it isn’t cheap and your rights to complain about that are valid. While not as hard, they say it offers a better visual. Other companies, such as COREtec, offer UV-cured acrylic. Hands down, Aluminum Oxide is the hardest, most scratch-resistant finish in the industry. ScufResist Platinum is a long-winded way of saying that the floor has an Aluminum Oxide wear layer. Personally, I prefer the SPC, as it will not dent like a WPC, and it's cheaper.Īn SPC floor is made up of several layers, each integral to a particular task. Solid Polymer Core ProductsĪlmost all LVP floors are made using one of 2 cores: either the older, quieter, and softer WPC or the newer and more dense SPC. Let's talk about the SPC vinyl core of Floorte Pro 7 Series Nobility. No account is needed to purchase these stylish home vinyl floors today. If you want to learn about the Floorte Pro series watch our floorté overview video below. We do try to account for this bias in our breakdown of features below. This description is going to be a little self-serving, but I want to be upfront….the Floorte Pro Nobility 7 Series is our favorite LVP that we have ever sold.
